If you're eager to launch your business in the United States, you're probably wondering how long the incorporation process takes. At Firstbase.io, we've streamlined the process, but there are still essential steps to understand. In this guide, we'll walk you through the timeline for U.S. business incorporation, step by step.
What are the steps of an incorporation?
- Post-Payment Tasks on Your Dashboard: After payment, your incorporation process begins with post-payment tasks on your dashboard. These are tasks pending on your dashboard, and it's important to complete them as they are necessary for the incorporation to proceed. Please note that we will be waiting for you to finish these tasks in order to move forward. All the timelines mentioned below start counting once those tasks are complete.
- Incorporation with the State of Your Choice (Wyoming or Delaware): Incorporation involves registering your business with the state you've chosen. Each state may have its own requirements and timelines. Please see the respective timelines below.
- EIN Request: The EIN (Employer Identification Number) request is a federal-level process. We request it from the IRS on your behalf.
- Bank Account: Please be aware that all banks have their own requirements. While we provide an estimated timeline, the approval of your bank account depends solely on the bank itself. We don't have the ability to interfere with the bank's decision.
Here are the timelines of the process:
-
Incorporation with the State of Your Choice:
-
- Wyoming: 3-7 business days
- Delaware: 15 business days for the State to review your application and 10 more business days for us to receive your certificate via mail (Expedited options available during registration)
-
- Post-Inc Documentation Preparation: 1-3 business days after the certificate of incorporation has been uploaded.
-
EIN (Employer Identification Number): Please note that these timelines are defined by the IRS, and not Firstbase.
-
- US customers or SSN/ITIN holders: 2-3 business days
- Non-US customers without SSN/ITIN: 20-30 business days
-
- Bank Account: On average, it could take 2-10 business days AFTER the application has been submitted to the bank account partner. Please remember that individual banks have their own requirements, and we have no influence over their approval process.
