Before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and the significant IRS closures that the US experienced between March 2020-June/July 2020, an EIN for a non-US SSN holder used to be issued by the IRS in 2 weeks at the latest.
As a result of the delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the IRS is still struggling to make ground on the backlogs. That being said, the current estimated timeframe is 20-30 business days for the IRS to fax the EIN letter back to us.
We appreciate your patience and trust that our team is doing everything in our power to obtain your EIN as quickly as possible. You can always reach out to us if you have specific questions or need an update on the timeline.
